O, I C, U R… OK.
Last night we had another great crowd for another great show! The enchanting Claudia Cogan kicked things off with her disdain for hipsters and her witty crowd work as she ushered two latecomers into the room. Catie Lazarus batted second with an average of 1,000, riffing on such lighthearted topics as Lebanon and Darfur, with slugger Joselyn Hughes right behind dishing about her credit card bill from one too many plays on the digital jukebox. The title of this post refers to a clever bit Erica Skeete has about being “Black British” and applying for jobs, which was followed by the observations and complaints of the delightful (and pregnant!) Clea Wilson. The show was brought home by none other than Lady Pat Candaras, who is always as enlightening as she is entertaining. (When you click the link I’ve provided for her, please know that you will see a bizarre 30 second commercial for Green Giant or something first, but then you’ll be rewarded with a great feature on her from her recent appearance on Funniest Mom in America III.)
If you’ve been kicking yourself for missing the show downtown loves, you’re right! Why don’t you come on down and see us sometime? We’ve got outstanding lineups set all the way through 2008! Tuesdays at 8 pm, Mo Pitkin’s, 34 Ave. A.
